January 2024 - Jackie S.

Help us congratulate Jackie S. for being our January 2024 Volunteer of the Month! Here’s a little bit about them:

1. Are you from the valley?  If not, where? and what brought you here? While not from the Valley, I am a Colorado Native, born in Alamosa, and have spent my whole life (minus approximately one year) in Colorado! After spending most of my adult life along the Front Range of Colorado, I am grateful to be here, in Grand Junction, where I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

2. What is your favorite thing about the Grand Valley? My favorite thing about the Grand Valley is the sense of community and how community members rally and help those in need.

3. What do you like to do when you're not at the Food Bank? When I am not at the Food Bank, I enjoy spending time outdoors with family, hiking, nordic skiing and four wheeling in remote areas of Western Colorado. You can also find me curled up with my dog, Roxy, on the couch in the evenings enjoying a good book!

4. What motivated you to get involved in the Food Bank, and how long have you been volunteering with us? I have been volunteering at Community Food Bank since November 2023 and a desire to help those who are food insecure obtain food they want and need is what motivated me to get involved.

5. Anything else you'd like to share with the rest of the awesome volunteer team? It has been wonderful meeting and working with such dedicated, caring volunteers! I look forward to seeing and visiting with all staff, volunteers and clients, each volunteer shift!
